Sacred scrolls connecting us to the Divine β purchase, checking, and guidance for these essential mitzvot
Ancient traditions, timeless connections
Tefillin are two small leather boxes containing scrolls of Torah parchment. They are worn during weekday morning prayers, binding God's word to the head (thought) and arm (action).
The mitzvah of tefillin is one of the most important commandments in the Torah, and the Rebbe encouraged every Jewish man to put them on daily.
A mezuzah is a parchment scroll inscribed with the Shema prayer, placed in a case on the doorpost of a Jewish home. It sanctifies your home and declares your faith.
The Rebbe emphasized that every Jewish home should have kosher mezuzot on every doorpost β it's a source of protection and blessing.

Tefillin should be checked by a certified scribe (sofer) at least twice every seven years. If they've been exposed to moisture or extreme conditions, they should be checked sooner.
Mezuzot should be checked twice every seven years. If you notice any damage to the case or the scroll seems loose, bring it in right away.
Generally, every doorway in a home that has two doorposts and a lintel requires a mezuzah β including bedrooms, kitchen, and living areas. Bathrooms are excluded.
